PE and Sport Premium
The PE and Sport Premium is additional funding provided by the UK government to primary schools to improve the quality of physical education, sport and physical activity for all pupils. Introduced in 2013, the funding was created to build on the legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with the aim of inspiring a generation to enjoy sport and lead healthy, active lives.
Schools receive this funding to enhance their PE and sport provision. It can be used in a variety of ways, such as improving the quality of PE teaching, providing professional development for staff, increasing opportunities for pupils to take part in competitive sport, introducing new sports and activities, and promoting healthy, active lifestyles across the school community.
By using the PE and Sport Premium effectively, schools can ensure that all pupils develop the skills, confidence and enthusiasm to be physically active both in school and beyond.
